Dermal fillers are an injectable product that is used to add volume and symmetry back into the face. They can be injected beneath the skin where they will provide both immediate and lasting results. Unlike Botox or other surgical procedures, dermal fillers typically work fairly quickly (within a few days) but also last much longer than these other methods (anywhere from six months to a year or more).

Why Do Patients Opt for Dermal Fillers?

There are a number of reasons why patients opt for dermal fillers including: Loss of volume in the face due to ageing weight loss or smoking Deep creases and wrinkles have formed on the face Deficiencies in lips cause them to look thin and unnatural

Who Is The Right Candidate For Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a great solution for anyone who is looking to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines on their face without going through surgery. They can be used in combination with other cosmetic procedures such as botox or laser treatments, but they also work very well by themselves too!

What Happens Before The Dermal Filling Process?

Before dermal fillers can be administered, your doctor will perform a few different tests to ensure that you are the perfect candidate for this treatment. These include: A health history check Hepatitis B and C screenings (if required) Individual counselling on how best to use filler products and what results in you should expect from the treatment.

What Happens During The Dermal Filling Process?

Once your doctor has determined that you are the right candidate for dermal fillers, they will inject a numbing cream into your face and leave it to take effect. Once this is done, they will then use one of several different techniques (depending on exactly where the filler needs to be injected) which include:
Sub-dermal injection – this method works by injecting the filler under the skin which allows it to be hidden from view. This is most commonly used for fine lines and wrinkles, but also great for creating fuller lips too!
Superficial injection – similar to sub-dermal injections, superficial injections are made at a slightly shallower depth in your skin. Superficial injections are great for smoothing out the skin and reducing the appearance of scars or acne marks.
Deep injection – deep injections work by injecting dermal fillers directly into a muscle, which allows it to take effect much faster than other types of filler! The results from this treatment can be seen almost immediately, but they will also only last around six months before you will need to come back for another treatment.

What Happens After The Dermal Filling Process?

Once your filler injections have been administered, there is very little downtime and you will be able to return home in a matter of minutes! The full results from dermal fillers may not be seen immediately but it won’t take long before they start to show. You can cover up any bruising or swelling with make-up if necessary though so don’t worry about what people will think!

What Are The Side Effects Of Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a relatively safe treatment and side effects and risks associated with dermal filler treatments include:
Bruising / bleeding at the injection site – this is common but it will heal very quickly so don’t worry! A small amount of pain, tenderness or discomfort may also be felt which can easily be treated with over-the-counter painkillers such as ibuprofen.
Bacterial infection – this is possible but it’s very rare and can easily be treated with antibiotics if the filler has been administered by a reputable practitioner (such as your doctor or dermatologist).
Allergic reaction to materials used in dermal fillers – again, an allergic reaction is possible but it’s very rare and can be treated quickly.
